Kristin Holm, DVM, DAVCD

ProGen Member Overview

I am a mother of five children, hence the name Five Gifts. They inspired me to learn more about our family tree, on my husband's side as well as my own. Between the two of us, we have ancestors from early America, Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany, Denmark, Italy, and Slovakia. We have taken trips to Ireland, Germany, and Italy, in search of the lands where our ancestors once walked. I have learned about history through the lens of our ancestors, which is way more interesting than the dates and events I was forced to memorize during high school. By profession, I am a board-certified veterinary dermatologist, which has gifted me with an appreciation and understanding of the medical world. My passion for genealogy naturally bends towards the scientific aspects, and has lead me to dig deeper into genetic genealogy and DNA analysis. I am mostly self-taught, though I have completed the Boston University Certificate for Genealogy Research, ProGen Study Groups, and have attended numerous virtual genealogy and DNA seminars. My goal is to become a Certified Genealogist. I would love to help others learn more about their families and help them discover relatives they never knew existed.
