Alice Childs, AG®

ProGen Member Overview

Alice Childs is a professional genealogist accredited in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. She works as an independent contractor for FamilyLocket Genealogists. In addition to client work, Alice is a leader and mentor for the ICAPGen study groups, helping candidates learn the requirements and prepare for the accreditation testing process. She has also mentored the Research Like a Pro and Research Like a Pro with DNA study groups for FamilyLocket. She currently volunteers as the Communications Manager for the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy. Alice is a member of the Utah Genealogical Society, the National Genealogical Society, New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, and the Association for Professional Genealogists.


Education

Alice holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University. Alice is a graduate of ProGen 53, the Research Like a Pro and Research Like a Pro with DNA Study Groups, and multiple institute courses including Researching New York: Resources and Strategies (IGHR), Writing and Publishing for Genealogists (IGHR), The Pennsylvania German and Research in the Keystone State (SLIG), Advanced Genealogical Methods (SLIG), and Proving Your Pedigree With DNA (SLIG).


Experience

Alice specializes in U.S. research and often incorporates DNA evidence in her work. She offers consultation services for those wishing to receive guidance for their own genealogical research. Alice is also a speaker and has presented for RootsTech and the UGA Summit of Excellence.
