As a professional genealogist, he applies his vast experience in genealogy toward heir, probate, and title research in the oil & gas industry. His current studies are focused on how to better utilize these skills in Forensic Genealogy. He has attended both local and national conferences and has specialized training in advanced land research topics and deed platting.

Steve is an alum of GenProof 50 Study Group and was a Group Leader for the ProGen 35 Study Group. Although he first became interested in genealogy at a young age, he has been conducting genealogical research on a professional level since 2018. Through previous employment, he has gained more than a decade of experience related to the oil & gas industry in environmental issues, piping and instrumentation, vessel design, and GIS Mapping. As well, he is certified in Petroleum Land Management.
Steve has also been a 20-year volunteer County Coordinator for the USGenWeb and formerly a webmaster for the Russell County, Kentucky Historical Society. He has been a member of the Oklahoma Genealogical Society, the Utah Genealogical Society, the Virtual Genealogical Association, as well as numerous special interest groups related to the field.
