Sharon S. Atkins

ProGen Member Overview

As a genealogist and author, Sharon is passionate about genealogy research and assisting people to discover their personal connection to history. She thrives on researching and writing the stories behind real people. The most recent example being her book "In Her Wake," based upon the life of a extraordinary woman who lived from 1852-1924.

In her book, The P.E.O. Founder’s Scrapbook, Sharon presented a unique historical view of the lives of the seven women who founded P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) and their families; before, during and after the founding of this international sisterhood in 1869. Readers are treated to a collection of ephemera including newspaper articles, family photos, journal articles and other ephemera demonstrating the true pioneering spirit of the founders.

Sharon is also a popular speaker and teacher of “how to” genealogy classes. She is a member of NAGS (Northern Arizona Genealogical Society), a former Board member of APG (Association of Professional Genealogists) and Past President of AzCPG (Arizona Council of Professional Genealogists).
