ProGen Member Overview

With most of my maternal line from England and Ireland, I have done extensive work in those regions. Closer to home my pioneer relatives on the paternal side had been on the east coast for decades before the lure of the West brought them to California prior to statehood when the gold rush began. Coming from Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New York they made the trip around the horn or across the isthmus while those leaving from Ohio came across the continent by wagons and then much later trains.

Experience

I started doing my own family history research in 1985. It started out as a project for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary and slowly became a passion. My sister and I started working together early on and when I started blogging in 2014 the name Putnam Sisters seemed just right. In 2019 I decided to take the next step and become a professional genealogist. I figured I already had the experience with my own and my extended family lines. After doing lots of work with study groups and institutes, learning how to be a better researcher and the tools needed to prepare professional reports for clients, and learning so much from my peers along the way. This is the year for me to prepare my portfolio and get it submitted.
