In loving memory ~
Allison Anne Bowers (Bourne) was born November 24, 1959, in New Westminster. She passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2023. She is survived by her loving husband Philip Bowers, mother Maureen Bourne, brother Rob (Kelly) nephew, Bradley and niece, Nicole, and numerous family members.
Allison grew up in Burnaby where she worked in the information Technology industry for 30 years as a Technology Architect holding positions in both the public and private sectors. She retired in 2014.
In 2014 Allison and Philip moved to Qualicum Beach where they purchased a 20-acre forested farm beside French Creek. They built their dream house and started tapping the many maple trees. For the last few years they have attended markets and community fairs marketing the syrup under the name Autumn Leaves Maple Farm.
Retirement allowed Allison to pursue her other passions, sewing and quilting, which she had learned at an early age from her mother & Nana. She enjoyed quilting and taught quilting techniques at several stores in Parksville and Nanaimo.
Allison had many hobbies and shared her expertise gladly. She had a grand piano which she loved to play. She was immersed in family history and was working her way towards certification in genealogy.
Allison developed a passion for Fairs and has served as a Director for Arrowsmith Agricultural Association (Coombs Fair), Vancouver Island Exhibition and BC Association of Agriculture Fairs and Exhibitions. In addition, she was also active in Coombs History. Allison got involved in 4H, volunteering her time and expertise to the various clubs. Allison was a whiz on computers and could always be counted on to assist groups on the technical aspects of software and web design.
Allison and Philip's favourite vacation was traveling to Alder Bay in their RV along with their menagerie of German Shepherds and Bengal cats.
Allison touched many lives and will be remembered for all she gave to her family, friends, and community. A celebration of life will be held in the new year.
