ProGen Member Overview

Hello! I am something of a lifelong genealogist. Rather than theme park vacations, we visited family, walking around cemeteries, old churches and historic sites. The turning point for me from hobbyist to serious genealogist was receiving unexpected DNA results. A fun Christmas gift turned into shocking news for my family and I have been addicted to DNA puzzles ever since.

My primary research focus is Loyalists into New Brunswick and Ontario, Norway, Ireland/Scotland, and Southern Italy. Once in a while I feel brave and peek into Germany or Mexico.

After years of collecting family history, I looked into the BCG requirements and immediately signed up for the BU courses. It has been a nonstop learning adventure!

Though I love to research, genetic genealogy seems to have picked me as I am mostly pulled in that direction. Chromosome mapping is by far my favorite genealogical tool. The majority of cases I end up with are related to unexpected results from DNA submissions. My latest adventure has been volunteering for DNA Doe Project, a nonprofit that strives to return an identity to those who have momentarily lost theirs for one reason or another.

For fun, my family likes to collect National Park trips and my husband and I are (slowly) section-hiking the Appalachian Trail.
