Joan Peake, (1953 - 2021)

It is with great sadness that we need to report the passing of our friend, Joan Lee Peake. Joan was born in Ohio 14 May 1953 and passed 26 Jan 2021 at her home in Morgantown West Virginia. She is survived by her husband Alan Deepe, and many cousins with whom she enjoyed their company immensely.

Always thirsting for knowledge, Joan was an accomplished genealogist. She was on the first National Genealogical Society Research Tour of Salt Lake City and traveled from the United Kingdom to attend. She had attended Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research and Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh to name a few. She also attended numerous state and national conferences.

She was a member of Association of Professional Genealogists, serving as Treasurer from 2012 to 2015; Great Lakes Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists and numerous local societies including Fayette County, Pennsylvania Genealogy Society. She served as President of the society for many years as well as newsletter editor. Recently she applied for a grant worth over $5000.00 for a scanning project. She also volunteered in the Fayette County PA Room twice a week.
For many years she researched the Provence Family hitting brick walls and then solving them.
