I'm a writer and editor with a passion for history, research, and genealogy. I feel it's important to consider social history, time, and place when doing genealogical research, as it helps put ancestors' lives into context and often leads to hints or answers.

I have been a genealogical researcher since 2007 or earlier. As a writer, I conduct extensive research for books and articles, which helps with genealogy and vice versa. Recently, I helped a relative identify a half-sibling through DNA analysis and research; it takes a great deal of sensitivity to explore and present close, unexpected relationships to clients.
Non-genealogical publications include the recent book, Lost Amusement Parks of Southern California: The Postwar Years. I have been a staff writer/editor for a daily newspaper, was publications editor for KCET Los Angeles, a staff writer/editor for About.com and TheSpruce.com, and now write for GardeningEtc. Other publications for which I've written include The Los Angeles Times, Westways, Emmy Magazine, Laguna Beach Magazine, Houzz.com, and Newport Beach Magazine. I hope to transition into genealogical writing.
