Sarah Lockwood is a proud Minnesotan, with ancestry from both an adopted family and a birth family.
Sarah loves the journey of ancestry research! Sarah sees exploring family histories and historical context similar to putting a giant jigsaw puzzle together. She would love to partner with you on your family journey as you continue to solve your puzzle.

Sarah specially loves research in the Appalachian regions of North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee, as well as Minnesota and Scandinavian records.

Genetic genealogy has been a personal journey for Sarah. As an adoptee, she used what she learned about DNA matching to find her own birth mother and father! She would love to join you in your journey of discovering genetic family. Sarah has enjoyed sharing her genealogy knowledge as a guest speaker, workshop presenter, and family history researcher at charity events.


Education

Sarah’s educational background has helped to hone her research skills. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Northwestern - St. Paul, MN, and a Master of Arts Degree from Wheaton College - IL, in Educational Ministries. She completed her Certificate in Genealogical Research through Boston University, in 2021. She recently completed ProGen Study Group 61 in June of 2023. Sarah is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the National Genealogical Society.


Experience

AncestryHelp was started by Sarah in 2021. She has successfully completed projects for family reunion displays, family narratives, family trees, display trees, and genetic proof of several unknown parent/grandparent/great grandparent projects.
